Jeffery Kingman, a local business owner and former chef, took some really great pics and wrote up a wonderful piece about the Hawthorne Urban Farmers’ Market on his blog, Kitchen Dances, after our second week. You should totally check it out.
I would be remiss if I didn’t point out what a wonderful thing the Common Grounds Coffeehouse and the Hawthorne Auto Clinic is doing, letting us lease this space for produce barter. Were that all business-owners were so hip! Of course, we always send as many people as we can over to the local shops when they’re looking for something we don’t have, as it’s just the neighbourly thing to do.
We’ve had so much help in putting this all together from the local media, friends, family, concerned citizens of Sunnyside and Richmond neighbourhoods…I don’t know how to thank everyone except to keep bringing better produce every darn week.
can I bring my guitar sometime and play some of my original country/folk music? Leve my guitar case open for donations? I’ve been writing and singing for forty * years. See you today.
Yes, please do. Anyone can show up and play a set for tips and a collecton of food/goods.
